Meet Tigirlily Gold! Sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh formed their duo in their hometown, North Dakota. In this episode, we learn all about their journey in music city, what inspired them to move to Nashville, and how they went from playing Honkytonks like Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Broadway to being invited to play the iconic Grand Ole Opry Stage.

These ladies grew up playing and writing their own music. Being the only musicians in their family, their passion for writing and performing grew. Throughout high school, they would take trips to Nashville to see shows at the Grand Ole Opry – never imagining they would be up on that stage just ten years later. With the itch to play music in Nashville, they decided to make the move and attend Belmont University. After landing a couple of music business degrees, the ladies didn’t stop there. They spent several years playing on Broadway stages before signing to Monument Records and landing a publishing deal that would allow them to connect with tons more songwriters - inevitably leading to them writing their hit single, "Shoot Tequila". 

In this episode, Tigirlily Gold takes us through the meaning of their song “Shoot Tequila”. Climbing towards 7 million streams on Spotify, Krista and Kendra wrote this one to portray to a friend or listener the dangers and thrills of drinking tequila. The girls sing –

Stead of cursing your name on the bathroom floor / Swear to god I won’t drink tequila no more / But mama didn’t raise no quitter

They perfectly describe the feeling of hating tequila and vowing never to drink it again, only to pick it back up later because – “momma didn’t raise no quitter”.

So, what is next for Tigirlily Gold? In the midst of a music industry breakthrough, Kendra and Krista are not planning on stopping anytime soon - they continue to write and perform shows. We can’t wait to see what is up next for these ladies.
